In-Person Sessions

In-person sessions can be done at your home, if local to Corvallis/Philomath, or at a public park. These sessions are great for those that like hands-on demonstrations and learning, or want to practice socialization/desensitization techniques with a trainer present.

In-person session hourly rate: $60

Virtual Sessions

Virtual sessions are a great option for those that aren't local or that prefer to meet over zoom. We'll combine instruction with live practice, recorded demonstration videos, assessment of your training progress via shared videos. Virtual sessions can be a great way to get a start on training while waiting for an in-person opening.

Virtual session hourly rate: $45

Behavior Consultations and Modification

Behavioral issues are one of the most common reasons that dogs are surrendered to shelters every day, and, the pandemic has only exacerbated this issue. It is my goal to help owners understand why their dog is exhibiting unwanted behaviors, and to help dogs start thinking instead of reacting.
This might be the right option for you if your dog is fearful, anxious, reactive, stressed out, overly excited or has a bite history. We'll dive into the genetic, environmental, historical and individual characteristics that make your dog who they are and look for an underlying cause to their behaviors. I believe firmly in both replacing unwanted behaviors with more desirable ones, and creating a more positive emotional response to your dog's triggers.
Boosting your dog's confidence will be one of our highest priorities.

Cooperative Care

Did you know that zoo animals are trained to be willing participants in their medical care? Our dogs can be too! By actively participating in their vet appointments through a series of tricks, our dogs know what's coming next and aren't surprised by weird handling. Things like holding still for ear swabs, permitting doctor's to look at their eyes and teeth, opening their mouth on command, relaxing for nail trims, and so much more, are all possible! There is lots of free information on the cooperative care learning page, but if you're looking for someone to guide you through it, this is the option for you!

Service Dogs

Picture
Training service dogs can be a daunting task to face on your own. First, if you're suffering from a physical or mental disability and interested in the prospect of a service dog, I always recommend reading the government regulations and protections for service dogs and their handlers. Service dogs can provide a large variety of tasks such as fetching medication kits, mobility support, scent detection/alerts, finding a stranger to help, providing deep pressure therapy and more. I firmly believe that service dog training is best done as a team, and I'd be happy to join yours.
Rates vary, please contact me to discuss your specific case.
Here, Margo is demonstrating a couple service tasks: fetching water and helping with the laundry.

Foundational skills

Are you looking to work on some general manners and training? This sector of training focuses on my preferred basics: sit, down, go to place, loose leash walking, recall and crate training. These skills provide the foundation for most other behaviors and tricks! We'll focus on understanding how dogs learn, teaching some, or all, of these behaviors and practicing in lots of different environments.

Puppies!

Picture
Whether you're thinking about bringing home a puppy, or already have one, this option is for you.
The decision to buy/adopt a puppy is a big one -we can talk about the different breeds, and their traits, how to be successful from day one and understanding how puppies develop. If your puppy is already home, we can work on creating a plan to start off right and help you succeed long-term.
Topics include crate training, house training, socialization, beginning trick training, manners and any of other questions.

Pack Walks

Register Here
Pack walks consist of a group of dogs and their handlers walking together on-leash as a group to practice neutral socialization. Dogs will not greet nor play with each other during walks, unless two handlers specifically request it and mutually agree. Some basic obedience will likely be incorporated into these walks and we'll try to practice in different environments. Reactive dogs are welcome to join, but please discuss with me ahead of time, if not already a client. Any dog that is a bite risk will be asked to wear a muzzle.
$5/dog/walk
